Emerson Woods Preserve
Emerson Woods is a 19-acre preserve forming part of the watershed buffer around the Oradell Reservoir. The Borough acquired the land in 2001 with support from the Bergen County Open Space Trust Fund and New Jersey Green Acres.
Visitors can use marked trails and a self-guided nature walk through woodland and wetland habitat.
A roofed kiosk provides information about the preserve and its environmental significance.

The municipality was incorporated as Etna, taking its name from the railroad station.
The borough adopted the Emerson name in honor of writer and philosopher Ralph Waldo Emerson.
Expansion of the Oradell Reservoir changed the eastern landscape and permanently shaped the borough's development.
